The territory of Roccasecca was long contested between Bourbon and the Papacy until it became part of the ancient Province of Terra di Lavoro of the Kingdom of Naples in 1751. Today, the municipality is still part of Lazio and the province of Frosinone.

Be aware that Roccasecca is located in a medium-high seismic risk zone, near a zone 1 at high risk. As a result, the building heritage of the area has been damaged by various earthquakes in the past, such as the Marsica Earthquake of 1915, the Sora Earthquake of 1654, and the Central-Southern Italy Earthquake of 1984.

Climate

The climate of Roccasecca represents that typical of the inner Lazio low hills. In summer, the days are hot and sometimes sultry, but often a thunderstorm occurs that lowers the air temperature. Autumn is mild and rainy, while winter varies depending on the masses of air. During anticyclonic periods, an inversion layer forms, but snow is not a frequent phenomenon, even if a modest snowfall can occur.
