Rima San Giuseppe

Introduction

Hello everyone! Today we will talk about a small Italian municipality in the province of Vercelli called Rima San Giuseppe, which recently decided to merge with another municipality to create the new municipality of Alto Sermenza. Rima San Giuseppe had only 56 inhabitants and was the highest municipality in the province, located at an altitude of 1,417 meters.

History

Rima San Giuseppe was founded in the 14th century by Walser who descended from Colle di Mud coming from Alagna Valsesia. The municipality has a rich history and has maintained important evidence of its foundation and evolution over the centuries. Many well-known citizens were born here, including industrialist Antonio De Toma, architect and sculptor Pietro Della Vedova, and Walser entrepreneur and poet Pietro Axerio Piazza, also known as "Piaru van d' Piazu".

Demographic evolution

1.8% of Rima San Giuseppe's population was Walser native speakers, although 15.5% was able to speak it.
