It covers an area of 1139 km² and includes 50 municipalities. The province was established in 1992 from the partitioning of the territory previously included in the province of Catanzaro.

Territory

The territory of the province of Vibo Valentia is very varied. It extends from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the mountains of the Serre and is made up of terraces located at different altitudes, where small local settlements and steep slopes towards the sea can be found.

From 600 to 1000 meters, there is an Apennine-type climate, rather cold and with snow falling regularly during winter. Summer is hot, but never too much, with maximum temperatures that rarely exceed 30 degrees.
