Greetings and Presentation of Revine Lago

Hello friends, today we are talking about Revine Lago, a small gem in Veneto, located in the province of Treviso. Also known as "Revìne Lago" in the local dialect, this municipality is home to 2,101 inhabitants and was named after its two villages, which were independent municipalities until 1868. The location is famous for its two lakes, Lake Lago and Lake Santa Maria (Treviso), which attract many tourists.

Geomorphological Description of the Area

Revine Lago is divided into two main areas: the southern slope of the Belluno Pre-Alps and the valley floor. The first is characterized by very steep terrain and is almost completely covered by forests. It starts from the peaks of the Belluno Pre-Alps (Monte Cor, La Posa) at an altitude of about 1,000 meters and reaches down to the valley floor. The territory is home to Lake Lago and Lake Santa Maria (Treviso), located at a height of 250 meters, and a small flat area. Most of the settlements are located at the meeting point between the two areas. In this area, there are also many geological formations created by the erosion of the mountains. A modest hilly area, located to the southeast, is also part of the municipality.

The History of Revine Lago

Revine Lago can boast an ancient and important history. Thanks to the findings (remains of pile dwellings, arrow points, ceramics), dating back to the late Neolithic period (about six thousand years ago) and numerous reports, we can reconstruct human presence in the area. The Roman conquest (2nd century BC) increased human presence in the territories. In the period of the Holy Roman Empire (from 773) and in the Middle Ages, the area was divided into fiefs: Revine was administered by the bishops of Ceneda, Lago became the property of the Da Camino family. In this period, the rural commune was born, a form of self-government for the rational exploitation of the territory that resisted until the arrival of Napoleon Bonaparte. Subsequently, Revine and Lago passed under the Serenissima and then to the Austro-Hungarian domain, and later to France. However, the Austrian occupation caused harsh fighting during the First World War, and the area was also affected by the Second World War with the formation of several partisan brigades such as the Garibaldi Division "Nino Nannetti", but the area also mourned many martyrs for freedom.

Conclusions

Revine Lago is a location rich in history and natural beauty. Its territory is divided into two main areas, but the two areas meet in a scenario of great beauty and extraordinary suggestion. If you are looking for breathtaking views and outdoor activities, do not miss the opportunity to visit this location in Veneto.
