The structure dates back to ancient times and has undergone numerous renovations. In 1580, it underwent an adjustment in sixteenth-century forms, while in 1733, it underwent a radical renovation.
San Clemente Bridge
The San Clemente Bridge is another point of interest in the area. This bridge connects the left bank of the Arno, where the town of Rignano sull'Arno is located, to the right bank where the hamlet of San Clemente is located. The origins of the bridge date back to the thirteenth century when about twenty bridges were built on the territories controlled by the Florentine municipality. After some stability problems, since 2008, passage on the bridge has been opened to cars.
