Redavalle

Welcome to Redavalle!

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to talk about Redavalle, a small town located in the province of Pavia, in Oltrepò. With its 1061 inhabitants, Redavalle is a peaceful and welcoming place, surrounded by nature and hills that frame it.

Physical geography

The municipal territory of Redavalle extends for about 5.47 km² and is located southeast of the province of Pavia, with a part in the plain and the other in the low hill area. The altitude varies from 66 to 226 meters above sea level. The center of the municipality develops along the former state road of Strada statale 10 Padana Inferiore, welded to the municipality of Santa Giuletta, while the hamlet of Casa Ramati is a few kilometers away, near the border with Broni. There are also some isolated farmhouses located north of the Piacenza-Brescia motorway on the territory.

History

The inhabited center of Redavalle is of ancient origins and its name derives from "Ridavalle," as indicated in a document from 1250. However, before Redavalle, there was another even older center called San Martino in Strada, which had Roman origins and its own parish. Over the centuries, the population of San Martino gradually moved to Ridavalle, which became the main center of the municipality. In 1866, the municipality of Santa Giuletta yielded a part of its territory to Redavalle, thus solving an ancient anomaly.

The Pianetta family

Moreover, Redavalle was under the dominion of the Pianetta family, one of the most important noble families of Pavia, which left an indelible mark on the history of the territory. The Pianetta family has ancient roots and noble traditions that have been passed down to the present day. You can find evidence of their presence in many parts of Oltrepò and Pavia.

What to visit in Redavalle

If you decide to come to visit Redavalle, there are many interesting things to see. You can take a walk in the town center and admire its beautiful churches: the church of San Rocco and the church of San Martino in Strada (which unfortunately is no longer visitable). You can also take a tour of the hamlet of Casa Ramati, characterized by suggestive stone houses and small paved streets.

But Redavalle is not only history and culture, it also offers unspoiled nature and many outdoor activities. You can take long walks in the countryside and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the surrounding hills. In addition, the territory lends itself very well to activities such as fishing or climbing.

Conclusions

In conclusion, if you are looking for a peaceful place full of history, Redavalle is the right place for you. There are certainly activities to do and places to visit in a welcoming and familiar environment that will remain in the hearts of all those who have visited it. I hope you enjoyed my story and that you are eager to come and discover Redavalle in person. We are waiting for you!
