Recoaro Terme

Welcome to Recoaro Terme: a charming valley

Welcome to Recoaro Terme, a town in the province of Vicenza known for its enchanting location in the high Agno Valley. Here, we find ourselves at the bottom of a valley, also known as the "Emerald Valley", at the foot of the Small Dolomites. Recoaro Terme is a very special place thanks to its mineral waters, which have been exploited since 1689 in the Central Springs thermal baths. In our guide, we will tell you everything you need to know about this wonderful location.

A place rich in nature

The territory of Recoaro Terme extends for just over 60 square kilometers and includes the arc drawn by the Small Dolomites and the underlying valley formed by the high Agno Valley. The landscape is dominated by the dolomia nature of the rocks and by the geographic location that determines a great rainfall in the area. There are numerous springs and sources of mineral water in the municipal territory, which also offers the possibility to practice various types of sports such as paragliding, winter sports, and mountain biking. It is also possible to practice mountaineering and rock climbing in the Small Dolomites.

A bit of history

The toponym Recoaro Terme probably derives from the Germanic personal name Richwar. The Cimbra language of the Seven Municipalities adopted the variant "Ricaber". The municipal territory is very rich from a geological point of view and was the inspiration for the geologist Verona Giovanni Arduino for the division in geological era still used today. Particularly interesting is the quartziferous fillade, a friable metamorphic rock that constituted an ancient mountain range.

The climate in Recoaro Terme

The climate of the Emerald Valley is characterized by high rainfall in autumn and spring, while during the summer, strong thunderstorms can occur in the late afternoons. During the spring period of 2008, Recoaro Terme was the rainiest location in Veneto.

How to get to Recoaro Terme

The municipality is easily accessible thanks to the former State Road 246 of Recoaro and Passo Xon. Recoaro Terme borders on the municipalities of Ala and Vallarsa in the province of Trento to the north, with Valli del Pasubio and Torrebelvicino to the east, with Crespadoro and Altissimo to the west, and with Valdagno to the south.

We are happy to have introduced you to Recoaro Terme, a charming location that offers both relaxation and sports. With its high rainfall, dolomite nature, and numerous sources of mineral water, Recoaro Terme is one of the gems of Veneto.
