The municipality of Radicofani is classified as zone 2 (medium-high seismicity) and enjoys a favorable climate, with a climatic classification of zone E and 2648 degree-days. In addition, the atmosphere is characterized by high diffusivity, as confirmed by Ibimet CNR in 2002.

History

The first documented settlement dates back to 876 with the name Callemala and the Castle of Radicofani is mentioned for the first time in 793 in a document of the marchese Lamberto di Ildebrando. The history of Radicofani is rich in events, including the conquest of the fortress by Ghino di Tacco in 1290 and the clash in 1300 between the army of Santa Fiora and those of Siena and Orvieto. In 1559, Radicofani was absorbed by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and in 1778, the municipality of Contignano was annexed to Radicofani.
