Along this road, you will find all the main bars and shops, including the town hall. Moreover, the presence of many commercial activities and the importance of the road in Presezzo has earned it the nickname of "Little Paris".
The town is only eight kilometres from Bergamo and is crossed by the Lesina stream, which has suffered from floods and cracks. With the widening of the banks, the local administration has done everything possible to prevent these disasters from recurring.
The history of Presezzo
Presezzo has an ancient history dating back to Roman times. The original name of the town was "Praesidium", but it was changed in 1263. This led to the replacement of the original coat of arms with the SPQR logo, which can be found at the bottom of the emblem. In the 13th century, the union of the municipalities of Capersegno and Presezzo took place. Capersegno is the oldest part of the municipality, where a castle represented a reference point for travellers. Some remains of the castle are still present. However, the origin of the name Capersegno is uncertain and presents various hypotheses.
During the Middle Ages, Presezzo was invaded by the Franks and the Lombards. In the 16th century, many wars impoverished the area, but under Venetian rule, the town began to recover. During the reign of Italy, the territory was ceded to Austria, but after World War II, it underwent major development.
A town that renews itself
After World War II, the town was still rural. However, the area developed rapidly thanks to the construction of modern buildings and the creation of new commercial activities. Presezzo soon became a place of great interest for visitors, thanks to its strategic geographical location.
