The history of Preci
The medieval village of Preci dates back to the thirteenth century and was located inside a fortress. In 1328, it was destroyed by an earthquake but was rebuilt. In 1817, it was elevated to a municipality. In the Middle Ages and in modern times, Preci was famous for the Precian surgical school specializing in the extraction of urinary tract calculi. In 2016, the city was hit by an earthquake that caused damage to the Abbey of Sant'Eutizio and made the historical center completely unusable.

There are some fractions in Preci. Abeto is located at 970 meters above sea level, Todiano at 920 meters above sea level and Poggio di Croce in the Oblita valley. Poggio di Croce is well fortified and anciently dominates the road that led from Triponzo to VaI Castoriana. In the village, there are several churches such as the one dedicated to Sant'Egidio, characterized by a façade that welcomes remains of 15th century frescoes of the Marche school. Going down towards the village, you arrive at the church of the Annunciation, which houses the most important work of the 14th century "The Annunciation" by Giovanni del Biondo, a Florentine painter. The village houses two other churches: that of the Holy Crucifix, dedicated to Saint Lucia, and that of the Madonna of the Oak. Collazzoni is a fraction of the municipality of Preci located at 868 meters above sea level. It is a "transit village" located between the villages of Montebufo and Forsivo, of which it controls the connections.
