Prato Carnico
A jewel nestled among the mountains of Carnia
Prato Carnico is an Italian municipality with a population of just over 800 inhabitants located in Carnia, a mountainous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The municipal territory mainly extends within the Val Pesarina, crossed by the homonymous stream, and surrounded by the suggestive scenario of the Dolomiti Pesarine to the north. Known as the "Valley of Time", thanks to the presence of the historic clock production of Pesariis, there are many reasons to visit this jewel nestled among the mountains.
A fascinating geography
In addition to the Dolomiti Pesarine, the valley is delimited to the south by the mountains Forchia, Novarza and Pieltinis that separate the territory of Sauris. Prato Carnico boasts a millennia-long history and its architecture is a visible testimony of it. Like many small villages in Carnia, the houses are typical, with harmonizing characteristics with Venetian palaces and perimeter walls.
