History
The history of Pozzolengo is ancient and fascinating. Since prehistoric times, this place has been inhabited and was the scene of numerous conflicts and battles, from the Goths to the Hungarians, from the Huns to the Avars. Pozzolengo also witnessed the divisions between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines and the passage of Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1510, the parish church was built, where we find various works of art such as the Lamentation of Christ by Andrea Celesti, the Ascension of Christ by Brusasorzi, the altarpiece with the Martyrdom of St. Lawrence by Gabriele Rottini and an Antegnati organ. In the remains of the ancient San Lorenzo in Castro parish church, next to the castle, there are fragments of 14th-century frescoes.
