Bolzano's territory is beautiful and varied. The city is located in the basin formed by the junction of the valleys of Val d'Isarco, Sarentino, and Adige, at an altitude of 265 m. Bolzano is bordered to the west by the Mendola mountain range, to the northwest by the Salto plateau, to the northeast by a smaller peak of Renon called Monte Tondo, and to the southeast by Monte Pozza.

From the city, the Catinaccio group with its characteristic Vajolet Towers can be admired. Additionally, the city is crossed by the Talvera stream which flows into the Isarco River, which in turn flows into the Adige a few kilometers south of the city. The historic center of the city is located within the triangle delimited by Talvera stream, Isarco river, and Monte Tondo.
