The History of the Church of Santa Maria del Carmelo

According to the historian Degani, Lugugnana has been remembered since 1164, while the parish is mentioned in the papal bull of Urban III of 1186. The current church is already attested in 1585. In 1964 a new church was built elsewhere so as not to demolish the parish, consecrated in December 1966. Unfortunately, during the works, the son of the owner of the construction company lost his life, falling from the scaffolding.
