The Province of Treviso: An Overview

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about the province of Treviso, located in the Veneto region, in northeast Italy. With a population of over 876 thousand inhabitants, the province borders other important areas of the country such as Belluno, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Venice, and Padua. It is the third most populous province in Veneto and the 17th most populous in Italy! The president of the province is Stefano Marcon, while the main decision-making body is the Provincial Council, whose mandate lasts 2 years.

Physical Geography

From a geographic point of view, much of the province of Treviso is flat, but you can find some hilly areas in the northern part. Near the border with the province of Belluno, some mountain ranges that exceed one thousand meters can be found, including Mount Grappa and Col Visentin. Another important hill is Montello, located on the right side of the Piave River. Speaking of waters, the province is very rich in rivers and lakes, with the Piave River being undoubtedly the most important.

The Seat of the Province of Treviso

Since 2009, the seat of the Province has been transferred to the former Sant'Artemio psychiatric hospital in Treviso. After four years of work, a conservative and environmental recovery work allowed the Provincial Seat to win prestigious European and international awards. Sant'Artemio now houses all provincial offices in a single structure near the Storga Park. The new headquarters focuses on energy self-sufficiency, with a photovoltaic system of over 200 Watts and a biomass plant for heating the premises.

The province of Treviso is made up of 94 municipalities. Among them, there are some important cities such as Conegliano, Orsago, Mogliano Veneto, Paese, Preganziol, Treviso, and Villorba. Treviso is certainly the provincial capital, a city of over 83 thousand inhabitants with a very ancient history.
