"The history of Ponte di Legno"
In 774 AD, in the donation document of the Camonica Valley by Charlemagne to the monastery of San Martino di Tours (Marmoutier Abbey), the northernmost part of the valley, bordering Trentino, is called "Dalanias". In medieval and modern times, the name becomes "Daligno" or "Dalegno". In Venetian times (1428-1797), one of the administrative divisions of the Camonica Valley was composed of the two non-contiguous communities of Borno and Dalegno.
Around the year 1000, the mother church of the Dalegno community obtains the faculty to have a baptismal font, without having to refer to that of the parish of Edolo. From the following centuries, the name "Ponte di Legno" makes its appearance on the scene and gradually becomes the official identity of the municipality.
