Zurlengo

Welcome to Zurlengo: history and territory

Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Zurlengo, a small hamlet located in the municipality of Pompiano, in the province of Brescia. Zurlengo has a long history and was an autonomous municipality until 1805, when it was merged with the municipality of Gerolanuova and subsequently with that of Pompiano.

Monuments and places of interest

If you are visiting Zurlengo, there are some monuments and places worth visiting.

Zurlengo: history and architectural treasures in the province of Brescia.

Religious architecture

The Church of the Saints John the Baptist and Evangelist is a place of worship from the XVI century and since then has been the seat of the parish. What strikes about this church is its mix of architectural styles: you can see Gothic and Renaissance elements that blend perfectly. Initially dedicated only to John the Baptist, in the XVII century its name was changed to St. John the Baptist and Evangelist.

Villas and palaces

Zurlengo is also known for its ancient villas and palaces, including Palazzo Martinengo and Villa Feltrinelli already Negroboni, built in the XVIII century. The latter villa was purchased by Count Paolo Feltrinelli in 1901 and renovated to become the splendid villa we know today.

Notes

It is worth noting that Zurlengo was registered as a Terra exempt in the "Catastico Bresciano" of Giovanni Da Lezze, which means that it was tax exempt and enjoyed some fiscal privileges.
