The territory is characterized by different cultivated, inhabited, and wooded surfaces. Although it's far from the main communication routes, Pomarance is accessible through road 439, coming from Pontedera and Follonica, or from SS68, coming from Cecina. Something about the history of Pomarance

Origins

The toponym Pomarance was first mentioned in 1128 as Ripomarrancia, through a document that spoke of a village with now unknown name but in that same geographic area. The first element of the name means "bank" in Latin, while the second element is more difficult to interpret. It could derive from the Roman person name Arranciae or from the old Italian "pomarancia," which means "orange apple".

Symbols

The coat of arms of Pomarance was officially confirmed in 1930 and reconfirmed in 2007. It consists of a shield divided into two parts, in the upper part, there is a red cross on a white background, and in the lower part, a tower on a blue background. The gonfalon is composed of a red cloth with the communal coat of arms in the center.
