Ploaghe, or Piubagga as it is called by the people of Sassari, is a municipality in the province of Sassari, located in the historical region of Sardinia. With its 4292 inhabitants, Ploaghe is a small town, but with a millennial history that dates back to the prenuragic and nuragic era. History

The city has an important medieval history, being part of the giudicato of Torres, inserted in the curatoria of Florinas, and then passing to the Malaspina and the Aragonese, until its definitive incorporation into the kingdom of Sardinia. During its history, Ploaghe was part of the barony of Ploaghe, of which Serafino di Montagnans was the first baron. The city was also a bishopric until 1503 and participated in the Sardinian revolutionary movements of 1795.

The municipality of Ploaghe has a coat of arms granted in 2010 and a Latin motto which means "neither favorable events elevate, nor adverse ones bring down". The municipal banner is blue and yellow.

Also important is the Church of San Michele di Salvenero, from the 12th century, located about two kilometers from the town, and the nearby Church of Sant'Antimo di Salvenero, in a state of ruin.
