Welcome to Pizzale, a small town in Lombardy

Hello everyone and welcome to Pizzale! This small town in the province of Pavia has 692 inhabitants and is located in the plain of Oltrepò Pavese, just north of Voghera. The original name, ''Al Pissà'' in Oltrepadano dialect, refers to its geographical position, to the right of the Staffora stream.

History of Pizzale

The history of Pizzale is closely linked to that of Voghera, since until 1164 it was part of the same territory. Later, it became part of the podesteria and then of the feud of Voghera, under the lordship of various noble families. In 1770, Voghera was liberated from the feudal regime, but Pizzale was the only village to maintain municipal autonomy. In the nineteenth century, the municipality of Porana, which had a very different history, also joined the territory of Pizzale.
