Physical geography

Valeriano is located in a privileged position, on a fertile plateau between the beautiful hills of Castelnovo to the north and the riverbed of the Tagliamento to the south. It is located about 180 meters above sea level and much of the territory is dedicated to agriculture, mainly maize and vineyards. Do not miss the chance to visit the Valeriano forest, a 300-hectare forest that is home to numerous species of fauna and flora, including oaks, chestnuts, birches and elms.

Population

Valeriano is the most populous hamlet in the municipality of Pinzano al Tagliamento, with a population of about 650 inhabitants. Here you will encounter friendly and hospitable people, ready to welcome you with open arms and make you feel at home.

History

Valeriano owes its name to the Roman centurion Valerian, who was once in charge of the area. Valeriano houses a parish church dating back to the 10th century, entitled to Santa Maria dei Battuti, and is still the parish church at the church named after Santo Stefano, built in 1492. The church preserves a series of works of art of great value, including a fresco triptych by Il Pordenone and another fresco triptych by the painter Marco Tiussi.

The richness and variety of gastronomic products are one of the main strengths of Valeriano.
