Pinarolo Po
Welcome to Pinarolo Po!
Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Pinarolo Po, a charming town in the province of Pavia, Lombardy, with a population of about 1684 inhabitants. Pinarolo is located in the plains of Oltrepò Pavese, wonderfully positioned to the left of the Verzate stream.
The History of Pinarolo Po
Pinarolo probably originated from a Roman agricultural settlement, on the border between the centurial countryside of Clastidium and the marshy valleys along the Po river. In 1164, the area came under the Pavese dominion and was ruled by the Pavese family of Giorgi di Soriasco, then by the Beccaria del Mezzano in the 14th century and after their extinction in 1750, by the Bellisomi of Pavia.
In the 18th century, Pinarolo aggregated some small surrounding municipalities, including "Tagliata", "Besozzo" and "Pallasio", of which the first two have now disappeared; later Ca de' Giorgi and Castellazzo Beccaria (now Castellazzo Vecchio, near Castellazzo Depretis) were also aggregated and only in 1871 was Negrera, formerly autonomous, joined to Corvino San Quirico.
The Symbols of Pinarolo
