Hello to the Province of South Sardinia!
Hello friends! Today I want to talk to you about the Province of South Sardinia, an Italian province located on the beautiful island of Sardinia. This province was established in 2016 and is composed of the territories of the former provinces of Carbonia-Iglesias and Medio Campidano, along with several municipalities from the Province of Cagliari and the Province of Oristano.

The Province of South Sardinia is located in the southern part of Sardinia and borders other provinces such as Nuoro and Oristano. The main characteristic of the territory is the Campidano plain, delimited by mountains such as the Sette Fratelli Massif and Monte Linas. Near this province there are several islands of the Sulcis archipelago, such as Serpentara Island and Cavoli Island.
As for the orography, there are mountains such as the Sette Fratelli Massif, Monte Linas, and the mountains of Sulcis. There is also a portion of the Gennargentu Massif. The Province of South Sardinia has several rivers such as the Cixerri, Flumini Mannu (Cagliari), and Flumendosa. Additionally, it has numerous artificial lakes such as Lake Mulargia and the Leni Dam.
The beaches are one of the strengths of the Province of South Sardinia, washed by both the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Sardinian Sea. In this province, you can find some of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia, such as Dune di Piscinas, Costa Verde, Masua, Fontanamare, the islands of Sant'Antioco and San Pietro, Porto Pino, Teulada, Chia (Domus de Maria), Villasimius, and Costa Rei.
Brief History
The Province of South Sardinia was established in 2016 following Regional Law 2/2016. This province collected the areas of Sulcis-Iglesiente, Campidano, low Marmilla, Sarcidano, and Sarrabus.
In 2021, with the reform of Sardinian local authorities, the Province of South Sardinia will be abolished and its territory will be transferred to the establishing provinces of Medio Campidano and Sulcis Iglesiente. The Metropolitan City of Cagliari will take care of the rest of the South Sardinia territory.
