Hello everyone! Today I will be talking about Pieve Porto Morone, a town in the province of Pavia in Lombardy. The town has 2547 inhabitants and is located in the southeastern part of Pavese, not far from the left bank of the Po River, on the border with the province of Piacenza.

History

The history of Pieve Porto Morone dates back to 1014 when Emperor Henry II granted the town to the Monastery of San Felice in Pavia. In 1164, it was Federico Barbarossa's turn to grant jurisdiction over Oltrepò Pavese, Lomellina, and other areas of Pavese, including Pieve Porto Morone, to Pavia. Later, the town came under the lordship of the counts of Rovescala, descendants of the counts of Pavia, in 1228.

In the fifteenth century, it was included in the Vicariate of Belgioioso, a territory granted to a collateral branch of the ducal house of Estensi. In the eighteenth century, Pieve Porto Morone annexed the municipality of Casone del Mezzano (now known as Casoni), and in 1866, it was Mezzano Parpanese's turn.
