Hello friends, today I'm going to talk to you about Fizzonasco, a charming hamlet in the municipality of Pieve Emanuele, in the metropolitan city of Milan. Who wants to discover a bit of history and curiosity about the area, come with me.

The history of Fizzonasco

Before becoming a hamlet of the municipality of Pieve Emanuele, Fizzonasco was an ancient municipality in the province of Milan. In the mid-1700s, in the census promoted by Empress Maria Theresa, the community counted only 95 residents. However, over the following decades, the number of inhabitants increased, reaching 200 in 1805.

Later, in 1809, the municipality of Fizzonasco was abolished by a decree from Napoleon and annexed to Pieve. Subsequently, in 1811, Pieve Emanuele was also absorbed into Basiglio and Fizzonasco became a hamlet of this municipality.

But the history of the Fizzonasco area is also marked by a tragic event: on the night of October 6, 1974, the Face company plant, located in this area, was set on fire by Milanese militants of Autonomia Operaia.
