Boscomare: discovering the hidden gem

History

Boscomare has an interesting history, having been an autonomous municipality before being incorporated into the municipality of Pietrabruna. Its history can be seen through its monuments and places of interest.

Monuments and places of interest

Boscomare boasts some beautiful religious architecture, including the Parish Church of San Bernardo with its Baroque façade that recalls the style of Domenico Belmonte. It is also worth visiting the Oratorio dell'Annunciazione and the Church of Siro di Genova, even though the latter is currently in a state of ruin.

Among the military architecture, we find the anti-Barbary tower, which today has been modernized and plastered, but has lost part of its charm. It is located among the narrow alleys of the village, but is worth a visit to admire its architecture.

Economy

The economy of Boscomare is mainly based on agriculture, particularly on the production of olive oil and the cultivation of lavender.

If you want to learn more about the culture of Boscomare, you can participate in an olive oil tasting, visit a lavender distillery, or take a stroll among the olive groves and lavender fields.

Infrastructure and transport

The hamlet can be reached via provincial road 46, which branches off from provincial road 45 shortly after the village of Torre Paponi and ends right in Boscomare. Recently, a new road has been built that connects the hamlet directly to the capital Pietrabruna without having to descend to the valley floor and then climb back up. In addition, the road leading to Lingueglietta in the municipality of Cipressa has been completely paved and partly built anew.
