The province of Asti: a brief introduction

Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about the province of Asti, one of the provinces of Piedmont, with a population of about 207,700 inhabitants and its main city is, of course, Asti.

History

As for its history, the first news about the province of Asti dates back to 1620, when Carlo Emanuele I delle Regie Lettere Patenti established it with 42 municipalities. Over the years, the province has expanded to 105 municipalities and then, in 1935, to 120 municipalities. During the Napoleonic period, the province was under French rule and was part of the department of Marengo, with Alessandria as its capital. After the fall of French domination, the province of Asti returned to being part of the administrative division of Alessandria, but was reconstituted in 1935 as an autonomous entity. Over the years, the province has had to deal with the floods of 1948, 1968, and 1994, which caused damage and casualties.
