History
Pian Camuno is an ancient municipality, whose origins date back to the Roman era. The ancient village of Piano is associated with the "corte Predellas" confirmed by Emperor Lotario I to the Monastery of Santa Giulia di Brescia in 837. Over the centuries, the community of Piano has been governed by several noble families, including the Brusati and the Federici. In the seventeenth century, however, Giovanni Da Lezze confirms that there were no more noble families in the village.
During the Napoleonic domination, Pian Camuno underwent many evictions and fires. In 1809, forty deserters from the Napoleonic army hid in a farmhouse in the municipality, but they were discovered and most of them were imprisoned or killed.
In 1863, Piano changed its name to Pian Camuno. Between 1927 and 1957, the municipality of Pian Camuno was merged together with Artogne into a single municipality.
