Pezzaze: History, symbols and museum of mines.

History

The history of Pezzaze dates back to the Renaissance, when the municipality sent "guastatori" on behalf of the Republic of Venice and supported expenses for the armies, sending soldiers to the service of the Serenissimo Principe Veneto. Over the centuries, the city has suffered several floods from the Mella river and had to fight against the plague in 1529.

However, not everything has been sad in the history of Pezzaze. In 1748, the parish church of S.Apollonio a Stravignino was built, and in 1914, the school building was inaugurated. In addition, many residents of Pezzaze emigrated to the United States of America between 1892 and 1922, bringing with them local culture and traditions.

Symbols

The coat of arms and flag of Pezzaze were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on March 30, 2004.

Pezzaze Mines Museum

In memory of the mining activity that characterized the municipality, the Marzoli Mine is now transformed into the Pezzaze Mines Museum. The museum tells the story of Pezzaze's mining extraction, which covered an area of 9 km² and focused on the search for iron and zinc. Visitors can see tools and machinery used by mine workers, as well as discover techniques for mineral extraction and purification.

I hope this brief description of Pezzaze has piqued your curiosity and that it has encouraged you to visit this wonderful town surrounded by nature. See you soon!
