Perosa Canavese

Perosa Canavese: an ancient and fascinating history

Perosa Canavese is a small municipality in the metropolitan city of Turin, in Piedmont. Its history dates back to at least the Roman era, as an important communication route between Eporedia and Augusta Taurinorum passed through the area. In the 12th century, the municipality was a fiefdom of the Counts of San Martino and became an important fortified center. Over the centuries, Perosa endured numerous sieges and damages due to wars between the French and the Spanish, but managed to preserve its ancient beauty and importance.

The coat of arms and flag of Perosa Canavese

The coat of arms and flag of the municipality symbolically describe its history and strategic importance. The coat of arms depicts the imposing gate tower that still overlooks a stretch of the walls of Ayrale today. The diamonds of the first partition are taken from the coat of arms of the Counts San Martino of Strambino. The flag is divided into yellow and blue.
