Pergine Valdarno is an Italian municipality in Tuscany, located in the province of Arezzo. With its 3,128 inhabitants, it is a quiet and welcoming place to visit.

Geography

Its territory is located in the center of three provinces: Arezzo, Siena and Florence. It is situated between the Valdarno and Valdichiana, on the hilly system to the left of the Arno River.

History

The toponym Pergine seems to have Etruscan origins, derived from the gentilic Percenas. The territory reflects the influence of Etruscan and Roman culture, with noteworthy archaeological findings. Among them, a detestable inscription written on a plate found in the locality of Bagno that invokes the divinity of the waters called "acquae ferventes sive nimfas".
