History

The history of Pellizzano dates back to the 13th century, as evidenced by historical documents dating back to 1211. At that time, the territory of Pellizzano constituted a unique municipality together with the fractions of Ognano, Claiano and Darbi, the latter then disappeared. During the episcopal principality of Trento, agricultural-pastoral disputes between the various centers of the area were resolved in the square in front of the Church of the Nativity of Mary. In the 19th century, Pellizzano was affected by a significant phenomenon of emigration during the domination of Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1929 a new municipality was established which included the fractions of Pellizzano, Castello, Termenago and Ossana, but the decision was abrogated in the post-war period and Ossana regained municipal autonomy.
