Pellio Intelvi: a place rich in history and beauty to discover

Pellio Intelvi is an ancient municipality in Lombardy which, until 2016, was an independent municipality, and it is now included in the municipality of Alta Valle Intelvi, along with the municipalities of Lanzo d'Intelvi and Ramponio Verna. The small town boasts a long history, which has left visible traces today, and several architectural and natural beauties to discover.

History

The territory of Pellio Intelvi has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the finding of some Coppelle in the Pian delle Noci area. The pre-Roman era left the necropolis discovered near the sports field of Pellio Superiore. The area then underwent the dominations of several noble families, such as the Camozzi, Rusca, Marliani, and Riva Andreotti.

In the past, the town was divided into two parts: Pellio Inferiore and Pellio Superiore, both equipped with a church. With the unification of the town under Maria Theresa of Austria, the two churches were elevated to the rank of parish.
