History

The original nucleus of Pellezzano developed around the Rocca del Casale, mentioned in some parchments of the 10th century. Initially called Casale Pellezzano, it later became the main center of the town until its suppression. In 1755, Pellezzano separated from the territory of Salerno and became an autonomous municipality, joining several hamlets. The territory of the new municipality excluded other border locations that remained an integral part of the Pellezzano area but continued to belong to Salerno.

Symbols

The coat of arms of Pellezzano represents the five hamlets of the town, famous for wool processing. The stars symbolize these hamlets, while the sheep and the comb represent the wool processing, the main economic activity of the city.
