Celentino

Welcome to Celentino

Welcome to Celentino, a hamlet of the municipality of Peio, in the autonomous province of Trento. Here you will find a warm and welcoming community, immersed in the nature of the Dolomites. Together, we will discover the history of this place and its monuments and places of interest.

History of Celentino

Celentino was an autonomous municipality until 1928, when all the municipalities in the Val di Peio were merged into the new municipality of Peio. Celentino was the birthplace of the family of Odoardo Focherini, a man who was recognized as Righteous Among the Nations for saving the lives of many people during World War II. Additionally, Celentino is also the hometown of the family of Giovanni Arvedi, a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Monuments and places of interest

Among the monuments and places of interest in Celentino, we find the Church of Sant'Agostino, a parish church dating back to the 1300s that has been consecrated multiple times, the last time in 1896, and took on its current form in 1909. You can also visit the Casa dell'Ecomuseo, which houses the Ecomuseo della Val di Peio and allows you to discover the culture and tradition of the valley. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Casa Grazioli, a museum-house located in Strombiano, which will make you discover the daily life of the inhabitants of the area. Finally, admire the Tower of Strombiano, known as "Casacia", a ruined tower built in the 13th-14th century that will take you back in time.
