Do you know Birra Castello?
Hello friends! Today I want to talk to you about the Italian company Birra Castello s.p.a. that has been producing beer since 1897. If you have never tasted it before, you are in luck because I will guide you through the discovery of this delicious beer and tell you a bit about the history of this company.
History
In 1997, Birra Castello S.p.A. was born after the Dutch group Heineken was forced to sell its beer production plant of Birra Moretti in San Giorgio di Nogaro, which had been owned by the group the previous year. The newly formed group had a production capacity of one million hectoliters per year. In 2003, the Beverage Service Europe group became the majority partner of Birra Castello s.p.a. Later on in 2006, the company also acquired the historic Pedavena Brewery, which was at risk of being closed. Thanks to the mobilization of employees, the local population, and the highest political authorities, the Pedavena brewery was able to remain open and become part of the company. In 2018, Birra Castello s.p.a. became the first beer producer with Italian ownership, selling more than 1.2 million hectoliters and generating a turnover of over 100 million euros.
Brands
Birra Castello s.p.a. produces various beer brands, including Birra Castello, Birra Dolomiti, Birra Pedavena, Superior and Alpen. In addition, it also produces beer under private label for some supermarket chains including Eurospin, Lidl, MD, and Conad.
Conclusion
Birra Castello is a high-quality beer, produced with care and attention. The fact that it also acquired the Pedavena Brewery demonstrates the company's commitment to supporting local communities. I recommend trying it at least once, because it will surely become one of your favorite beers.
