Paularo is located in a valley called ''Valle d'Incarojo'' or ''Val Chiarsò'' or ''Valle di Paularo'', surrounded by imposing mountains that exceed two thousand meters in height. Orography

The valley is surrounded by majestic mountains, including ''Cuestaltä / Hoher Trieb'', ''Monte Zermula'', ''Ludìn / Findenigkofel'' and Pizzul. The mountain peaks exceed 2000 meters and offer an unforgettable natural spectacle.

Hydrography

The Chiarsò stream, from which the valley takes its name, runs through the entire territory of Paularo. It originates at 985 m, near Stuä di Ramaç, and flows into Cedarchis where it joins the But river. There are also numerous spectacular waterfalls, such as that of Salino, the ''cascata das Glîrs'' and the ''cascata da Nasjä''. In addition, there are also two sources of water, the iron-rich source in Rufòsc and the sulfur-rich source in Aonêš.

Climate

The climate of Paularo is rather mild, with summers that can reach 30°C in the months of June, July and August. The winter is not particularly harsh, with average temperatures ranging from 1.5°C to -5°C.

Origins of the name

The name Paularo could derive from "''pabolarium''" (pasture) or from "povui-poulars", a place of horse chestnuts. Testifying to this second possibility are the only centuries-old arboreal specimens in Julia Square, heirs to a much larger plantation.

In conclusion, Paularo is a charming municipality with breathtaking mountainous terrain and lush nature. It is ideal for those seeking an escape from the city and loves peace and tranquility. If you have the opportunity to visit eastern Carnia, do not miss the chance to stop in Paularo!
