Pattada

The Beauty of Pattada

Pattada, a small yet fascinating town in the province of Sassari, is famous for producing exclusive folding knives called "resolza pattadesa". However, this town has much more to offer. Immersed in the natural beauty of the Monteacuto region, Pattada is a surprising and unique municipality.

Physical geography

The territory of the municipality of Pattada includes Lake Lerno, which takes its name from the mountain that overlooks it, Mount Lerno. The latter, with its height of 1094 meters, is the highest point of the municipal territory. The view of this mountain framed by the water of the lake is breathtaking.

The hill of San Gavino, another summit present in the municipality of Pattada, dominates the vast territories of Sassari, Gallura, and much of Barbagia. In addition, the waters of the fountains of Pattada are appreciated for their lightness and purity, especially the fountain of "Su Cuccuru". The beauty of the Church of Santa Sabina, with its massive bronze door that depicts the most famous sacred scenes, is undoubtedly an attraction worth a visit.

Pattada: natural beauties to discover

Flora and fauna

After a gradual depopulation, the Monte Lerno Forest and the Pattada territory in general are now home to a greater number of rare faunistic specimens: mouflons and Sardinian deer are repopulating the territory, and it is not uncommon to spot wild boars and hares. The golden eagle, falcon, Milvus milvus, sparrowhawk, and goshawk are often present in the skies of this area.

Regarding flora, the presence of holly and yew is particularly important. However, the entire Pattada area was once more flourishing with vegetation (holm oaks, oaks) that were destroyed by fires and deforestation. Nonetheless, there are still some areas of great naturalistic interest.

Climate

Pattada has a Mediterranean climate with rather cold and rainy winters. The average annual rainfall is about 900 millimeters, mainly distributed during the winter and autumn months. In summer, drought is less than three months. Snowfall is not rare in winter months, although it does not last long.

To conclude, Pattada is a municipality worth visiting if you want to enjoy the natural beauty of the Monteacuto region. The view of Mount Lerno and the lake that surrounds it is breathtaking, and the municipal territory is home to interesting fauna and flora. Furthermore, the Church of Santa Sabina with its bronze door is a unique attraction. All this and more make Pattada a special place in Sardinia.
