Parma Calcio 1913: the Italian football team from Parma

Hello friends, today I want to talk to you about Parma Calcio 1913, better known as Parma, an Italian football team based in the city of Parma. Currently, it plays in Serie B, the second division of the Italian football championship. The club was reborn in 2015 as Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Parma Calcio 1913 and is the heir to the "Parma Football Club".

The team's honours

Parma Calcio 1913 boasts an important honours list that includes 3 Coppa Italia, one Italian Supercoppa, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, 2 UEFA Europa League and one UEFA Super Cup. The club is the fourth Italian club and the sixteenth European club in the UEFA club competition statistics for Victories by team. Moreover, it is the only team to have earned three consecutive promotions in the national football championship organised under the aegis of the Italian Football Federation, moving from Serie D to Serie A in just three years (2015-2018).

Parma Calcio 1913: history, success and rebirth.

The team's history

Parma Foot Ball Club, the team that preceded the current Parma Calcio 1913, was born on December 16, 1913. After several championships played in the regional categories, in 1925 the first promotion to Prima Divisione 1925-1926 arrived. In 1953-1954, thanks also to the 15 goals from the Czechoslovakian bomber Július Korostelev and the guidance of his compatriot teammate (and later coach) Čestmír Vycpálek, the club achieved its first promotion to Serie B, where it remained for the following eleven years.

From the 80s to the 2000s

In 1984-1985, a turning point occurred: Parma achieved the fourth promotion to Serie B, driven by a team that included Mario Cecchi Gori, Nevio Scala and the Norwegian Hallvar Thoresen. Then come two extraordinary seasons: in 1986-1987, the supercoach Scala leads Parma to fight until the penultimate matchday for promotion to Serie A, which was achieved the following year.

The first season in Serie A in the history of the club dates back to the 1990-91 championship, which saw coach Scala set up an offensive and unscrupulous team with the attacking trio Zoratto-Hernández-Crippa. Safety was achieved on the penultimate matchday, with the home win against Hellas Verona.

In 1991-1992, another extraordinary result arrived for Parma: it placed third in Serie A and reached the UEFA Cup semifinals. This is the beginning of a golden decade, in which Parma reaches the UEFA Cup final three times, winning it twice (1995-1996 and 1998-1999). In 1992-1993, the team arrived in fourth place in the championship, which was repeated in the following two seasons.

In 1998, Parma won the Coppa Italia, but the real consecration came in 1999, with the victory of the UEFA Cup, then repeated the following year. In the 1999-2000 season, Parma also won the UEFA Super Cup, becoming the first Italian team to have won all UEFA competitions.

In 2000-2001, Parma again won the Coppa Italia, but the following year saw the end of an era: Cesare Prandelli replaced Alberto Malesani as coach of the team.

From financial difficulties to the rebirth of the club

From 2000 onwards, Parma's economic situation worsens: in 2004-2005, the team was relegated to Serie B. The crisis continued and in 2015, Parma arrived in Serie D, the fourth division of the Italian football championship.

In this difficult period, some local entrepreneurs came together to save the club, which was re-founded as Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Parma Calcio 1913. The team achieved three consecutive promotions, returning to Serie A in 2018. The team, led by coach Roberto D'Aversa, immediately achieved a surprising safety.

The future of Parma Calcio 1913

The 2019-2020 season of Parma Calcio 1913 began under the guidance of Roberto D'Aversa. The team is made up of experienced players such as Bruno Alves and Roberto Inglese, but also young talented players such as Dejan Kulusevski. The club continues to focus on the growth of young talents, with a team of experienced technicians led by Daniele Faggiano.

The dream of Parma Calcio 1913 is to return to the glory days of the past, with great national and international results. And who knows, maybe the future could reserve a new triumph in Europe for the team from Parma.

Conclusions

Here is the history and present of Parma Calcio 1913. A team that has experienced a past of successes, economic difficulties and rebirth. The future of the club seems promising, with a competitive team and a serious project. All that remains is to support Parma Calcio 1913 and hope that it can achieve increasingly important goals in the world of football. Forza Parma!
