Parella

Exploring the Parella neighborhood

Parella is a neighborhood located on the west periphery of the city of Turin. It is bordered by Corso Francia, Corso Lecce, Corso Regina Margherita, and the municipality of Collegno. The area is named after an ancient farmstead located between Via Servais, Via Gravere, and Corso Monte Grappa. The territory was rich in other farms, including Borrello, Lionetto, and Feroglio.

The history of the neighborhood

The farmstead of Parella was built for the Conterno family and later bought by the Marquises San Martino di Parella, already nobles of Parella del Canavese. Around the 15th century, the nobles enlarged the farm and made it their property. The area around the Parella farmstead was rural and populated by numerous other farms, including Gibellino, Calcaterra, and Vittoria, which hosted the French psychic Nostradamus. Gradually, the neighborhood was settled in the 16th century and '700 along the roads to Collegno and Rivoli.
