The passion of Cosenza Calcio fans

Cosenza Calcio is a football team that has always had passionate and devoted fans. Despite never having been in Serie A, its supporters can easily be compared to the big fanbases of the top league. Cosenza fans are closely tied to the team's jersey and the local area. Not only the residents of the urban area of Cosenza and the neighboring towns, which has about 260,000 inhabitants, support Cosenza Calcio, but also Calabrian emigrants settled in the North of Italy, bringing the follow-up of the team to about 700,000 people throughout the province.

The political orientation of Cosenza Calcio fans

Cosenza Calcio fans are characterized by left-wing values, such as solidarity, anti-racism, social activity, aggregation, and closeness towards the oppressed and needy, which have made the team a cornerstone and a reference point for the Italian ultras movement. An example is the association "La Terra di Piero", born following the disappearance of Piero Romeo, a historic figure in the world of Cosenza ultras and a historical figure of the "Nuclei Sconvolti".

The passion and commitment of Cosenza Calcio's fans

The birth of Cosenza Calcio fan clubs

In the '40s, some charismatic figures managed to involve crowds in "folkloristic" events, while in the '60s, the first fan clubs were born, such as the "Lupi della Sila" and the "Francesco Guido" club, dedicated to the memory of the former president. In 1982, the "Cosenza 1914" club was born, deeply tied to the territory and the promotion of local tourism, followed by the birth of other clubs that led to the creation of the "Centro Coordinamento Club", with the aim of coordinating and promoting the initiatives of the various associations.

In general, the Cosenza Calcio fanbase can be considered an example of passion and attachment to the team that goes beyond simply attending matches and is built on values of solidarity and closeness to others, typical of Southern Italian culture.
