Its capital city is Catanzaro and it is bordered to the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea, to the north by the province of Cosenza, to the northeast by the province of Crotone, to the east by the Ionian Sea, to the south by the province of Reggio Calabria, and to the southwest by the province of Vibo Valentia.

Physical Geography

Territory

With an area of 2,391 km², the province of Catanzaro occupies 15.9% of the regional territory and the central part of Calabria. The territory is characterized by the presence of the so-called isthmus of Catanzaro, a valley about 30 km long that connects the two coasts from the Gulf of Squillace to the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia and is the narrowest point in the entire Italian peninsula. Additionally, on some particularly clear days, it is possible to see both the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ionian Sea, the Aeolian Islands, and even the peak of Mount Etna at the same time.

The beauty of the province of Catanzaro: territory, hydrography, history, and culture.
