The history of Palazzolo Sull'Oglio has ancient roots, dating back to the pre-Roman and Roman period. The Oglio river has determined the evolution of the territory, from its origins, becoming a fundamental means of communication and at the same time a natural boundary for the populations that settled there. It seems that the first inhabitants of the area were the Cenomani and the Insubri, who settled east and west of the river. With the geographical evolution of the area, an important hub of communications developed in the center of the two branches of the river, thus giving life to the nucleus of the town.
