Paisco Loveno

Welcome to Paisco Loveno

Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Paisco Loveno, a municipality with just over 170 inhabitants located in the beautiful Val Camonica in Lombardy. Here you can enjoy the beauty of untouched nature and the millennia-old history of the area.

Paisco Loveno: nature and history in Val Camonica.

Physical geography

Territory

The municipality consists of three main villages: Loveno, Grumello and Paisco, all located on the northern bank of the Paisco Valley, through which the Allione stream flows. The village of Paisco is unique because it does not see sunlight for many months in winter. In the locality of Loveno di "Saviera" and "Traversagna" there were fourteen iron mines.

History

The territory of Paisco Loveno is rich in history. As early as 1299, the consuls of the vicinia of Paisco and Loveno swore allegiance to Bishop Berardo Maggi of Brescia. In 1336, Bishop Jacopo de Atti granted feuds of the right to the tenth in the territories of Cerveno, Ono San Pietro, Esine and Paisco to Oprandino Codaferri from Cemmo. At the peace of Breno in 1397, the representative of the community of Paisco, Andriolo Baratiero, sided with the Ghibellines. In 1423, Bishop Francesco Marerio of Brescia granted feuds of the right to the tenth in numerous territories, including Paisco, to Bertolino della Torre di Cemmo. A further important historical turning point occurred with the union to the Kingdom of Italy in 1859 and the creation of the municipality of Loveno Grumello. Finally, in 1928, the municipalities of Paisco and Loveno Grumello were merged to form Paisco Loveno.

Local feudal lords

Over the centuries, many families have obtained the feudal of the territory from the Archbishop of Brescia: • Codaferri Family (1336 - ?) • Della Torre Family (1423 - ?)

Symbols

The coat of arms and the banner of Paisco Loveno were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on September 14, 1984. The banner is a yellow cloth.

Monuments and places of interest

If you love mountains and trekking, the municipality offers the opportunity to enjoy dream landscapes. I recommend the Davide Salvadori Bivouac, located near the Torsoleto Pass at an altitude of 2645 meters. For those interested in sacred architecture, Paisco Loveno offers numerous churches, including the church of San Paterio in Paisco Loveno, a Baroque structure with possible Benedictine influences.

In conclusion, the small municipality of Paisco Loveno offers an unforgettable vacation among nature, history, and culture. I recommend visiting it and enjoying its natural and architectural beauties.
