The municipality's territory is also affected by the famous Gessi Bolognesi and Calanchi dell'Abbadessa Park.

Climate: Hot in Summer and Cold in Winter

The climate of Ozzano dell'Emilia is continental, with cold and snowy winters and hot and humid summers. The intermediate seasons are mild, with a certain amount of humidity in the air thanks to the Apennine hills' channel of air that covers the territory to the south of the municipality. The municipality is classified as zone E with code 2252 GR/G and is located in seismic zone 2.

History: From Claterna to Papal Rule

Ozzano dell'Emilia can boast a history that dates back to the 2nd century BC when the Roman city of Claterna was founded. Later, Ozzano was included in the Canton of Castel San Pietro Terme within the Imola District of the Reno Department. Ozzano di Sopra was the main municipality, which extended to the surrounding area with many interesting locations like Varignana di Sopra and Ozzano di Sotto.

With the restoration of papal rule, Ozzano di Sopra became a community, including Ciagnano, Monte Armato, and Settefonti, while Ozzano di Sotto was subordinated. With a decree in 1862, the municipality assumed the name of Ozzano dell'Emilia.
