Dogato
Dogato: a Friendly and Summarized Gem
Hi everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Dogato, a small and picturesque hamlet in the municipality of Ostellato, in the province of Ferrara.
Society
If you have the opportunity to visit this little gem in the Ferrara province, I recommend going on Tuesday morning, when the weekly market takes place. A beautiful occasion to discover the liveliness and vitality of the local community.
Monuments and Places of Interest
The church of Saints Philip and James the apostles is definitely one of the most important places of interest in Dogato. Its presence is documented since 1262, but its erection as a parish is still under debate among experts. Certainly, the church had already obtained such a dedication in 1567, during the pastoral visit of Cardinal Giulio Della Rovere. In 1575, the cardinal had a new church built, which was destroyed during the bombings of 1945 and then rebuilt in 1950.
Infrastructure and Transport
Dogato is crossed by the State Road 495 of Codigoro and is very close to the Rovereto exit of the Autostrada A8 toll road. Furthermore, the Dogato railway station offers a convenient connection with Ferrara and Codigoro through regional trains of Trenitalia Tper. Unfortunately, the railway service on the Portomaggiore-Dogato railway line was suspended in 2017.
Conclusions
Overall, Dogato offers an authentic experience of provincial life, with its historic church and weekly market. If you have the opportunity to visit the area, do not miss the chance to make a stop in Dogato and discover its beauties!
