Forges, treasures of Val di Sole: discover history and nature.

Origins of the name

The name Fucine derives from the presence of numerous workshops for the processing of iron. The iron came from the mines of Comasine, located in the nearby Val di Peio. This material was fundamental for the development of the village, which became an important center for the processing of iron.

Monuments and places of interest

In Fucine you can visit several historical monuments, including the Church of San Carlo Borromeo. This religious building was rebuilt between 1902 and 1904, after the previous building was destroyed by a flood in 1849. The church dates back to the seventeenth century and has been restored several times over the years.

You can also admire the Casa del Dazio, dating back to the seventeenth century, which features a sundial and the coat of arms of the prince-bishop of Trento and the episcopal principality of Bressanone, Sigismondo Alfonso Thun.

Culture

Fucine is home to the Istituto Comprensivo Alta Val di Sole, one of the two lower secondary schools in Val di Sole. In this way, the village contributes to the education of young people in the area.

Conclusions

Fucine is a very interesting hamlet to visit if you are in Val di Sole. You can admire its historical monuments, enjoy the beauty of the area, and learn more about the culture and history of Trentino. I recommend visiting it at least once in your life!
