Ossana

Ossana: a hidden gem in the province of Trento

Located in the magnificent province of Trento, Ossana is an Italian municipality with a population of approximately 828 residents. Its history dates back to the twelfth century when it was first mentioned in 1174 as "Volsana" in a document of the Tyrolean Appiano family, in support of the Augustinian Collegiate Church of San Michele all'Adige, on the Wine Route. Over the years, the territory of Ossana has been incorporated into that of Pellizzano, but this decision was later overturned after World War II. In 2019, the populations of Ossana and Pellizzano rejected the proposal for a merger.

History

Ossana was the site of the Giner mountain plane crash on December 22, 1956. To commemorate this event, a nativity scene was constructed in the town in 2016.
