History
The history of Ospitale di Cadore dates back to the 10th century, when a hospice was founded to accommodate pilgrims crossing the Piave valley. Over the centuries, the village developed thanks to the processing of wood, which was transported along the river Piave, and the construction of the first water-powered sawmill, which took place during the rule of the Republic of Venice. In the 19th century, Candido Coletti opened a wood processing plant, called Candidopoli, which contributed greatly to the economic growth of the area.

The municipal coat of arms and flag of Ospitale di Cadore were granted in 1968 by the President of the Republic.
