The territory of Origgio is crossed by the Bozzente stream and presents an agricultural-wooded area that houses the Bosco del Conte, a large forest of Robinia pseudoacacia and Quercus robur. Moreover, the municipality of Origgio is working on the creation of the Lily of the Valley Park, which will be extended over 1,000 hectares in the agricultural-wooded areas of Origgio, Uboldo and Cerro Maggiore, to protect the ecological corridor of the Bozzente and one of the last green areas remaining in the Alto Milanese.

The climate of Origgio is of a continental type and features cold winters with many frosty days and hot and humid summers. Sometimes, especially in the past, the municipality has been affected by the phenomenon of fog. Precipitation is abundant and is concentrated mainly in spring and autumn.
History
The history of Origgio dates back to the Roman era, when the municipality was known as Oleoductus and hosted the Mediolanum-Bilitio Road, which connected Milan to Lugano via Varese. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the town developed thanks to the presence of some noble families, including the Borromeo family, who acquired it. In 1811 the municipality was abolished by Napoleon and annexed to Uboldo, but was then reinstated following political changes, as happened also in 1928 when Mussolini decided to aggregate it to Saronno.

The economy of Origgio, like that of most small Italian municipalities, is based mainly on agriculture and craftsmanship. In fact, mainly cereals and fruit are grown in the agricultural-wooded area, while several craft shops are located in the town center.

The municipality of Origgio is characterized by several cultural traditions, including the celebration of the Madonna del Rosario, which takes place every year in October in the parish church. In addition, many inhabitants of the town participate every year in the Artichoke Festival in Uboldo, a traditional gastronomic event that attracts many people from neighboring towns.

Origgio is connected to Milan and other neighboring locations thanks to the A8 motorway, the Milan-Varese expressway, and the Ferrovie Nord Milano railway line. Furthermore, the town has a medical clinic and a pharmacy.
